“I learned the value of community, which is w在这里 I found my voice. The students and teachers who surrounded me are what made my classes, 寄宿经验, and extracurricular commitments memorable.“-Alliyah
During her time at Solebury, Alliyah helped create safe spaces such as Teach2Serve, 黑色星期五, 女孩向前, and Diversity Club w在这里 students could voice their opinions and enact change. “I learned the value of community, which is w在这里 I found my voice. The students and teachers who surrounded me are what made my classes, 寄宿经验, and extracurricular commitments memorable.” Helping to create those spaces was important to her because, “It's important to have space w在这里 you can come as you are to the table, 易受伤害地说话, 挑战别人, and still feel love and acceptance when you leave. I wouldn't be who I am today without the love, 洞察力, and support I received from my Solebury family, 因此, 我真的很感激.”
Alliyah Allen graduated from Haverford College with a BA in Religion and Africana Studies in 2018. 目前, she is a Program Coordinator for New 艺术 Justice at Express Newark and an Assistant Curator of Monument Lab. 总部设在纽瓦克, NJ, Alliyah co-founded LAND Collective, a visual art collective that supports local artists. She is also an artist and curator who focuses on the experiences, 叙述, 治疗实践, and transformational image practices surrounding blackness, 灵性, 和女人. 使用内容管理, 摄影, 写作是一种工具, Alliyah intends to use them as part of her mission to empower and give space to those who are unseen and unheard.
